“The end is where we start from…” / T.S. Eliot

Nobody burns out for a bad cause.

Studies have shown that 42% of doctors experience burnout, 65% of teachers are showing signs of burnout, and 73% of lawyers surveyed felt burnt out. Burnout has become so prevalent, the   World Health Organization included it in the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11) in 2019.

“Burn-out is a syndrome conceptualized as resulting from chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed. It is characterized by three dimensions:

  1. feelings of energy depletion or exhaustion;

  2. increased mental distance from one’s job, or feelings of negativism or cynicism related to one's job; and

  3. reduced professional efficacy.

Burn-out refers specifically to phenomena in the occupational context and should not be applied to describe experiences in other areas of life.” Burnout is a result of the working environment and work culture. Mental health issues cost an estimation $1 trillion in lost productivity worldwide.

Burnout does not have to be an end;

It can be where we start from.
